Where I am from Poem
I am from dirty clothes and dishes
From
Tide and Dawn
I am from a loving large home
It is
big and sweet it tastes like cake
I am from the prickly rose bush
The Sycamore
Tree
Whose
adventure to the top was painfully majestic
I’m from the Sunday Sauce and the Family Fights
From
Amy and Tony and Dolly
I’m from the chaotic dinners
And the
caring conversations
From wash your hands before dinner
And do
not eat the dog food
I’m from the Catholic religion
From
the Sunday Masses and the Daily Dinner prayers
I’m from the small town by the big lake
From
meatballs and fried chicken
From the time dad complained about it’s a Small World After
All
To the
times my mom laughs so hard she cries
I am from a fantastic but completely different family, who
believes all is possible
